Formats
Microsoft Excel (Office Open XML)
XLSX is the spreadsheet format Microsoft Excel has used since 2007. It can hold several sheets, formulas, formatting and charts.
Microsoft Excel 97-2003
XLS is the binary spreadsheet format of Excel 97-2003. Older accounting software and enterprise systems still produce or require it.
OpenDocument Spreadsheet
ODS is the open-standard spreadsheet format of LibreOffice Calc and OpenOffice. Many public bodies prefer it because it is an open format.
Comma-Separated Values
CSV stores each table row as a line of text, with cells separated by commas or semicolons. Nearly every program and database can import and export it.
Tab-Separated Values
TSV is a plain-text table format that separates cells with tab characters. It causes fewer problems than CSV when data contains commas.
