    WebP is an image format Google designed for the web. It compresses lossily or losslessly, supports transparency and animation, and is typically 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same quality.

    Is converting WEBP to BMP free?

    What happens to a transparent background?

    BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. You can choose black or any other colour in the settings.

    Does converting to BMP improve quality?

    No. BMP keeps the current picture exactly but cannot restore detail lost when the WEBP was saved. The benefit is that further edits will not degrade it any more.

    Are animated images converted too?

    Only the first frame is converted to BMP. To keep the animation, convert to MP4 or WEBM.

    Does it work on a phone?

    Yes. It works on iPhone, iPad and Android, with no app to install.

    Is there a file size limit?

    There is no size limit set by us. Files of hundreds of MB convert too; very large files take longer and are handled more comfortably on a computer than on a phone.
