Fix a PDF without rebuilding it
A wrong date on an invoice, a name in a contract, a figure on a form or a typo in a handout should not mean rebuilding the document. In the PDF text editor you see the page, click the text and type what it should say.
Each line is rewritten in its place, at the same size and in the font closest to the page’s own (with the widths of Arial, Times or Courier); the colour is taken from the page. You can change the selected line’s font, size, bold, italic and colour, delete it or undo your changes. “Add text” puts new text anywhere on the page.
In the downloaded PDF the new words are real text: they can be selected, copied and searched. The rest of the page, its images and its other text stay exactly as they were.
How to change text in a PDF

Open the PDF
Drag your PDF into the box above or pick it with Choose PDF. The pages open one under another in the large viewer; zoom in and out as you like.

Click the text
Click the line you want to change and retype it. Press Enter or click somewhere empty.

Set the style
Change the font, size, bold, italic and colour in the bar above. For new text choose “Add text” and click the page.

Download
Press Download PDF; the PDF with your changes is saved.

How do I change text in a PDF?
Open your PDF, click the text you want to change and retype it. Press Enter to close the line. After all your changes press Download PDF.
Do the font and size stay the same?
Size and position match the page, and the colour is taken from it. The font is the closest match (with the widths of Arial, Times or Courier); with common fonts the difference is hard to see.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Text on a scanned page is a picture, so it cannot be clicked. You can still use “Add text” to put new text on the page.
Is the old text fully removed?
No. The old text is covered with a box in the page’s colour so it no longer shows, but it stays inside the file and some programs can still select and copy it. Do not use this tool to permanently remove confidential information.
Do accented letters work?
Yes. New text is written in fonts with accented Latin letters, which are embedded in the PDF.
